Actualmente se desempeña como docente e investigadora en la Escuela de Comunicaciones de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Su área de docencia es principalmente la metodología de investigación y los efectos de la tecnología digital.
Su investigación se centra en los efectos socio-emocionales del uso de tecnologías, especialmente en niños y jóvenes. Su tesis doctoral se centró en los efectos emocionales de compartir emociones en línea, en especial en jóvenes que dieron la Prueba de Selección Universitaria (PSU). También es periodista de la Universidad de Chile. Previamente y antes de emigrar a Holanda se desempeñó en Chile en varios medios de comunicación, como en el periódico en inglés The Santiago Times y la agencia de noticias Thomson Reuters.
De vuelta en Chile, su interés es ahora estudiar los efectos de la comunicación con agentes artificiales y de la comunicación mediada en general, temas que investiga en la actualidad.

Carmina Rodríguez-Hidalgo holds a PhD in Communication and a Research master (M.Sc) in Communication Science, both at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Currently she teaches and researches mainly research methodology and effects of using digital technology at the School of Communications at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
Her research centers on the socio-emotional effects of technology use, specially in children and youth. Her doctoral thesis focused on the emotional effects of sharing emotions online, specially in youngsters that took Chile’s National Selection Test (PSU, its Spanish acronym). Her methodological specialty is carrying out longitudinal surveys and experiments. Some of her most important research can be found at www.researchgate.net.
She is also a journalist from the University of Chile. Previously and before emigrating to The Netherlands, she worked in several media outlets, such as the English newspaper The Santiago Times and the news agency Thomson Reuters.
Back in Chile, her interest is now to study the effects of communicating with artificial agents and of mediated communication in general, both topics which she currently is investigating.
